Turk Telekom vs Anadolu Efes Preview

The final showdown of Round 23 in the Turkish Super League unfolds in Ankara, where Turk Telekom welcome Anadolu Efes.

The hosts are eyeing a third straight league win to reclaim their playoff spot, while the visitors look to ride the wave of confidence after back-to-back EuroLeague triumphs.

Turk Telekom Form & Team News

After wrapping up their EuroCup campaign, Turk Telekom can now fully focus on their Turkish Super League journey.

Balancing two competitions clearly took a toll on the Ankara squad, as their domestic league results suffered. However, with just one game per week, they now look much sharper, fresher, and more composed.

Back-to-back wins have put them right back in the playoff hunt. Heading into this round, they shared a 10-12 record with Bursaspor and Büyükçekmece.

But with both of those teams losing their Round 23 matchups, a victory here would lift Turk Telekom into sole possession of 8th place—a crucial step as the season nears its decisive phase.

Anadolu Efes Form & Team News

After securing two wins in this week's EuroLeague double-header, Anadolu Efes head to Ankara in high spirits and brimming with confidence.

Their domestic league campaign, however, has been far from dominant. Sitting in 4th place with a 16-6 record, Efes have struggled with inconsistency—much like in the EuroLeague, where they only recently found some rhythm with consecutive victories.

In their last Super League outing, they suffered a heartbreaking 82-81 defeat against arch-rivals Fenerbahçe, despite leading for most of the game.

The decisive blow came from Fenerbahçe’s center, Sertaç Şanlı, who scored the winning basket off an offensive rebound. Efes then squandered their final possession, failing to organize a proper last-second play with 20 seconds left.

With Fenerbahçe running away at the top with just one loss, Efes have shifted their focus to securing second place. Beşiktaş currently hold that spot with a 16-5 record, and overtaking them would allow Efes to avoid a potential clash with Fenerbahçe until the finals.

Head to Head

The first clash between these teams this season was a rollercoaster filled with excitement and momentum shifts, ultimately ending in an 86-81 victory for Anadolu Efes.

The game was marked by standout performances from Dan Oturu, who dropped 21 points for Turk Telekom, and Anthony Brown, who led Efes with 22 points.

Verdict

EuroLeague double-game weeks often take a toll on teams in their domestic league matchups that follow. With little time for rest and preparation, coaches are often forced into makeshift solutions.

I expect a strong challenge from the hosts.
