Manchester United were handed another defeat in midweek as they lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest.

Manchester City secured a crucial 2-0 win over Leicester in their last match to ensure they are still in the equation for a top-four spot.

City have won seven of their last 10 against United, with the latter winning three times.

United have not been good enough this season, with the side continually found out on the pitch.

37 points from 30 matches means United are below the likes of Crystal Palace, Brentford and Bournemouth in the table. Meanwhile, they have only scored 37 times, which is seven more goals than 18th-placed Ipswich.

Defensively they have been poor, conceding 41 times. With neither attack nor defence firing, it is no wonder why they sit so far below the European places.

Despite their woes, City have not been good enough to prove to me that they can beat United. I simply expect both to score in a match between two of the biggest underachievers in the league this season.

Manchester City’s season could still end positively, with the club two wins away from the FA Cup trophy, while they are in the conversation for a top-four spot.

Their 2-0 win over Leicester made it two without defeat in the league. However, the worry for City is that they have not been great on the road this season. The reigning champions have won six of their 15, losing six times and drawing three games.

An injury to Erling Haaland means that Omar Marmoush has had to step up. He has fared well so far, scoring in his last two outings for his side. I expect him to hit the back of the net for City in this one.
