Kolkata Knight Riders were handsomely beaten by Mumbai Indians in their last match as they slipped to an eight wicket defeat.

Sunrisers Hyderabad were also easily beaten in their last outing as they lost to Delhi Capitals by seven wickets.

Kolkata Knight Riders were awful in their last outing as they limped to 116 all out in 16.2 overs before seeing their score chased withing 13 overs.

Ashwani Kumar of the Mumbai Indians tore through KKR with figures of 4/24, with Angkrish Raghuvanshi's 26 KKR's top score on the day. With the ball, Andre Russell was the only player to really show much defiance as he returned figures of 2/35.

This defeat has left the reigning champions languishing at the foot of the table after three games. With the season still so young, KKR can put themselves back in contention for a top-four spot with a win. However, their last performance will have many worried that they will follow up their title-winning season with a limp attempt at defending their crown.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Form

Sunrisers Hyderabad did not have what it takes to beat Delhi Capitals in their last match as they were skittled for 163 with eight balls remaining.

Their loss was primarily down to the exploits of Mitchell Starc, who returned stunning figures of 5/35. Aniket Verma was brilliant in his knock of 74 from 41, but he did not get the support he needed. This enabled DC to set up a run chase that they were always well on top of as they romped to a seven wicket win.

While SRH were easily beaten by DC in their last game, they did at least show signs of defiance. I believe this will be vital in what has turned into a match between the two biggest underachievers in the IPL at this early stage.

Kolkata Knight Riders v Sunrisers Hyderabad

I am backing SRH to come away with the win as they hand KKR another chastening loss in their title defence.
